Weaving Design & Wearability

Mechanisms

As art lovers and customers, our attention is focused on the beautiful designs and the sparkle of diamonds and gemstones. We often don't think about the practicality of wearing our pieces every day for years and years; this is where the designer's expertise comes in.

A good designer will work with you to create something that has the appearance you want and allows you to enjoy it instead of avoiding the hassle of wearing it.

This client came in wanting a traditional station necklace. The problem with station necklaces is that though they look nice, as you move throughout the day, the stations slowly work their way around your neck and never looks as good as when you put it on in the morning.

Stacey's creativity and collaboration with her client led to this unique take on the station design. Instead of wiring the gems into the chain, Stacey created "stations" by adding solid gold tubing as spacers. This keeps each setting in its place while allowing the pendants to move freely along the chain. The result is that the gemstones always stay centered on the client's neck!

Our Iris hinged cuff is a fantastic example of weaving function into the design. Stacey had the idea to create a cuff-style bracelet that was easier and less painful to wear. Her ingenuity led to this original design. The hinge easily snaps closed with one hand and uses spring tension from the metal to open while remaining completely secure. Once open, it slides comfortably off and on your wrist without digging into your skin.

Our ultimate ideal is always that the client can wear and enjoy their piece throughout their lifetime without hassle, pain, or inconvenience. Sometimes this means marrying our client's original concept with designs that will allow for comfort, durability, and practicality. Stacey, Libby, and Ashley can find the perfect solution for all your jewelry needs with open minds and vast knowledge of industry techniques.
